In the News: Walmart Opens Massive Pharmacy Distribution Hub in Maryland

WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL - Walmart Inc. has deepened its Greater Washington roots with a new 102,000-square-foot prescription processing facility in Maryland, a project the retail giant is betting will lighten the load on its in-store pharmacies.

The company (NYSE: WMT) has built out a new building at 4910 Executive Court in Frederick. Matan Cos., a prominent Frederick-based developer, owns the property.

The opening of the new facility is part of a greater push by Walmart to shift prescription fulfillment out of stores and to a centralized hub that uses automation to make the process more efficient and accurate.
