Matan Raises $1,100 in Support of Breast Cancer

GERMANTOWN, MD (November 1, 2013)– On Friday, November 1st, Matan Companies joined together for a very special “casual Friday” to help Lee National Denim Day celebrate 17 years of fighting breast cancer. This grassroots program has raised more than $89 million for breast cancer programs by simply asking the nation to put on their jeans and donate $5 or more to the American Cancer Society®.

For the fifth year in a row, Matan Companies added their own flavor to Lee National Denim Day by selling cupcakes at four of their Germantown office buildings.  “We are all very grateful to our Tenants who supported our efforts by purchasing cupcakes to raise money for this very worth cause, which has personally touched many of us,” said Priscilla Ford, Portfolio Manager for Matan Companies.  “Matan looks forward to continuing and expanding this fundraiser next year along with our other community based activities.”

Matan volunteers included Chris Shearer, Christine Blackwood, Christine Wilson, Gale Smith, Pam Campbell, Tamie Leckemby, Jennifer Slane, Yvonne Sigler, Pearl Lane, Loli Portillo, and Priscilla Ford. Their efforts helped Matan contribute over $1,100 for Lee National Denim Day. Cupcakes were $2.00 for regular size and $3.00 for jumbo size. Pre-sales were available for $10 a box, which included a pink pin. Though geared for tenants, the bake sale was open to the general public at four office buildings from 20201-20300 Century Boulevard, Germantown, Maryland.

“At Matan, we try to provide opportunities for our tenants to help support worth while causes through small actions throughout the year,” said JP Matan, Director of Leasing for Matan Companies.  “We are a family oriented company, so the idea of a grassroots program that is very personalized really appeals to us.”

In addition to the breast cancer fundraiser, Matan Companies holds a number of fundraiser or community enhancing events throughout the year. For the holidays, Matan holds their annual toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots.
